George Saunders
In the article "My Writing Education: A Time Line" George Saunders talks about his college experience and important events in his life. He talks about his professors, Tobias Wolff and Doug Unger. His professors become an important part of his education, Doug was always nice to him and was always helping him with school. Toby became his best friend and was always there for him. Throughout Saunders' education Toby and Doug where the ones helping him with his writing and they always gave him advice on whatever he needed. One day Doug got a bad review on one of his writings and he gave them a nice and honest talk about it. He told them that no matter what they should always keep going forward and never going forward and never give up. Doug also showed a lot of kindness when George's wife Paula was about to have a miscarriage in their trip to South Dakota. Doug allowed Saunders to send his papers through the mail and he even told him not to worry about it because he had passed the class. They are always there for each other that they even have a study group and they help each other in their writing. When Saunders daughter is born he feels like he is starting to loose his magic in writing stories. Doug helps him a lot by not lying to him and telling him that what he wrote was good when in reality it was crappy. When this happened Saunders realized that he was true friend and he was helping him grow.
